Bowl of Vietnamese pho

Best Vietnamese Restaurants in Jersey City

Vietnamese food is one of the cleanest, healthiest cuisines in the world, containing minimal oil and dairy and packed with fragrant herbs. It’s generally low fat, full of vitamins and minerals, and great for those with gluten allergies.

If you’re in the mood for an aromatic bowl of pho, a plate of vermicelli noodles or some fresh summer rolls, there are three Vietnamese restaurants in Jersey City that should hit the spot.

Kung Fu Pho

Located on Grand Street not far from Jersey City Medical Center, Kung Fu Pho opened in 2022 and is one of the newest additions to Jersey City’s restaurant scene. This spacious restaurant serves over 20 different types of pho and noodle soup, so you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to flavor options.

Fancy something other than pho? They also serve banh mi sandwiches, soups and a variety of hot entrees, including beef dishes (bo), seafood dishes (do bien), pan fried noodles (mi xao) and bun vermicelli.

If you want to get your vitamin boost, the menu features a selection of 16 oz fresh juices, including  Just for Me Juice (spinach, celery, green apple, cucumber and pineapple) and Wake Up Juice (beet, orange and carrot).

Saigon Cafe

Based in the downtown area of Jersey City on Newark Ave, Saigon Cafe is a cozy eatery with exposed brick walls adorned with fairy lights. Serving hungry Jersey City locals since 1999, this Vietnamese restaurant serves signature entrees, noodle soups and a good selection of meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes. They also have two types of vermicelli noodles – bun vermicelli and banh hoi fused vermicelli.

If you have a sweet tooth you’ll love their dessert options, which include tapioca pudding, steamed pandan cake, sweet taro dumplings, banana bread pudding and steamed sticky rice with bananas.

Saigon Cafe is closed Mondays, and is typically open from 12pm-3pm and 5pm to 9/10pm. Don’t try to visit in the two hour gap between 3pm and 5pm, or you’ll get there and find they’re closed!

Thanh Huong

Thanh Huong is a spacious, no-frills restaurant in the West Side neighborhood serving authentic Vietnamese food. The decor is basic but the restaurant offers good portion sizes, reasonable prices and friendly service. Best of all, they’re open at breakfast from 10am and offer free delivery in the local area.

You’ll find all the typical Vietnamese dishes on the menu here, including banh mi sandwiches, rice vermicelli, pho, pan fried noodles and a variety of meat/seafood dishes with rice. If you like banh canh soup, they have a selection of both clear and thick soups, including banh canh cua – a thick noodle soup with crab meat.

Wash your meal down with a Vietnamese coffee or an avocado shake. Several Google reviewers say Thanh Huong is their favorite Vietnamese spot in Hudson County, so if you’re a pho lover, you’ll want to check this place out.
