Best Rooftop Bars in Jersey City

It’s well known that Jersey City has the best views of Manhattan, so what better way to enjoy them than with a drink in hand at a nice rooftop bar?

Here’s a list of the best rooftop bars in Jersey City where you can enjoy a cocktail or two and make the most of the summer months.

Stork Club

A newly opened rooftop located at Port Liberte, Stork Club has an enormous outdoor deck with fire pits and skyline views. Start with a nice meal at Felina Steak downstairs, then head up to the Stork Club rooftop for after dinner cocktails. The rooftop is open from Thursdays to Sundays, and hosts regular events and live music.

Happy Hour is available at the bar on Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm – definitely try one of their espresso martinis! Although the Stork Club is a members club, the Jersey City rooftop is open to the public, and members get special discounts.

RoofTop at Exchange Place

Located on the Jersey City waterfront right near the Exchange Place Path, RoofTop at Exchange Place has the best skyline views of Manhattan and the Hudson River. This chic rooftop has a large outdoor deck with a retractable roof and serves a variety of cocktails and small bites. Expect to pay around $15-$18 for a cocktail here, or you can visit during Happy Hour, when cocktails are $11 and beers are $5.

Downstairs is the Terrace Dining Room, where guests can enjoy a “polished casual” dinner menu while admiring the view through floor-to-ceiling windows.

Six26

One of the best gay bars in Jersey City, Six26 is named after the date the Marriage Equality Act was passed in the United States. This rooftop bar and lounge hosts regular DJs and drag brunches, offering a fun, dance party vibe in a garden-like setting.

Once the sun sets, head downstairs to The Lounge at Six26, which often has a packed dance floor and vibrant cocktail list. Happy Hour is from 4pm to 8pm Monday to Friday and $5 beers, $5 wines and $5 mixed well drinks.

Iron Monkey

Situated in Paulus Hook, Iron Monkey is a multi-level bar with a small, intimate rooftop. The rooftop is open year-round, with igloos and heaters to keep visitors warm during the winter months.

With floors and three bars, there’s plenty of space to relax in, and the atmosphere is pretty casual with live sports playing on the TVs. If you’re feeling hungry you’ll find the food menu to be pretty extensive, featuring sliders, wings, salads, sandwiches, tacos, burgers, and a whole host of other dishes.

The Ashford

While The Ashford is known for being pretty rowdy (especially on the weekends), the rooftop bar offers a relaxing oasis that feels worlds away from the crowded dance floor downstairs. The rooftop overlooks Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza so you won’t get the Manhattan views, but we love the lush greenery and garden-esque vibes. The roof is covered to protect from sunlight and rain, so you can enjoy the rooftop vibes whatever the weather.

Porta

Porta is one of Jersey City’s best spots for pasta and pizza, and is spread across three floors. The rooftop overlooks downtown Jersey City, and is open for brunch as well as lunch and dinner. The rooftop menu is smaller than the menu downstairs, featuring pizzas, salads, and a few light snacks.

Skinner’s Loft

Located just off Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza, Skinner’s Loft is a family-run restaurant serving New American fare. On Thursdays you can enjoy live jazz from 7pm, and there’s also Happy hour from 4pm to 6pm daily.

Skinner’s Loft is spread across three floors, with a bar on the ground floor, a dining room on the second floor and a rooftop terrace that’s open during the summer months. The rooftop has a cute homely feel, with patterned flooring, an eclectic mix of seating and umbrellas for diners to shelter from the sun. It overlooks Newark Avenue, and has a food menu featuring modern gastropub dishes, as well as cocktails, wines and beers.

Canopy Central Bar & Bistro

Canopy by Hilton in the Jersey City Arts District offers a bistro and bar offering a collection of international tapas, gin inspired cocktails, local beers and regional wines. It also has a small outdoor terrace where visitors can sit outside in the summer months.

Rooftop at 902 Brewing

Located in Bergen-Lafayette, 902 Brewing is a large brewery that also happens to have a spacious roof deck with views of the city. You’ll find a good selection of craft beers on tap, and while there’s no food served here, you’re allowed to order in. The brewery hosts regular food festivals and live music, and best of all, it’s dog-friendly, so your pup can join in the fun too! The vibe here is casual and friendly, and is popular with locals from all over Jersey City.
